Ok I was looking at my clips and the data rate is 2.9, and I think it should be reading 3.6
Is there a change in resolution between these two data rates? And now, my clips are capturing at 3.6, but all my other ones captured at 2.9. Does this have anything to do with capturing straight to the external HD? Does the data rate decrease as it passes through the computer to the HD?

Data rate will not decrease as it passes through the computer to the HD, this has nothing to do with it.
I believe that what you have here are two seperate frame rates for your clips. The footage that shows a data rate of 2.9 mbps are probably 23.98 frames per second. The footage showing a data rate of 3.6 mbps are probably 29.97 frames per second. The additional frames are what accounts for the (3.6) mbps.
When you shoot 24p(a) and the Advanced pulldown in used, the resulting footage is 23.98 fps. When you shoot 24p (the regular mode, NOT advanced mode), the resulting footage is 29.97.
Check the frame rate on those clips to see if they are indeed different; some being 29.97 and others being 23.98.

EDIT: Thanks any way... i got the information... now im running ok. Bye
hey, i got a question... i´m really concern about this because i´m kind of lost here:
the problem is, i´m not sure how to capture my footage from my DVX... my settings on
Final Cut Pro to capture are setting as NTSC DV (3:2) at 23.96 fps, DV/DVCPRO-NTSC compressor,
and 720x480 frame size... but, i´m not getting the same nice and progressive picture than my camera
(i mean, when i connect my camera direct to the TV -super video-)... and the picture looks blure and the motion looks fake... after capturing, and after exporting to DVD... so... i´m worried , then i don´t know if i have to use this ADVANCED (2:3:3:2) PULLDOWN REMOVAL... but i don´t think so because my camera (DVX100) does n´t have ADVANCED REC OPTION, rigth?... so... i´m kind of lost here.
Any suggestion??? my settings on the DVX are 24P mode.
then i´m reading your post here and i´m figured out that my time line shout set at 29.98 rigth??. not 23.98... right???... but, how to preserve this ture 24p look if FCP turns my 24p footage on 29.98??.... it looks any difrence??? between 23.98 and 29.98??. from 24P footage??? plaseeeee gimme a clue!!..
Sorry about my english!! lol
