View Full Version : A motto to live by...

Rick Meyer

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!""

I dig that sentiment the most.
I mean hell, ya wouldn't put a pristine looking and running car in a junkyard now would ya?

I agree somewhat; but by that theory I would still be smoking, be an alcoholic, be single, be fat and overweight if not for the excessive amount of cocaine I would do.............................

Those Quotes always sound inspiring until your fucking dying at 63 of lung cancer or liver poisoning or some shite.

-

I think life is best lived with balance on both ends of the spectrum. Fuck all that live fast bullshit.

My point was (is)

I have lived a version of this lifestyle and have buddies still living this lifestyle.

It's a great ideal to aspire too but the reality is sombering

I think it all makes sense when you are young and the batts are still in the green, but as you get past the halfway point you start to throw a few switches to the off position to conserve the juice a little. Then there are some who just run it right at the wall!:Drogar-Evil(DBG):

Umm... I don't know... I think I want to try and maintain my self... I won't go so far as to be doing organic foods and plastic surgery. But, at the same time, I won't be boozin' out and smoking crack.

I think there are some valuable lessons to be learned from living hard and fast at some stage of life and I don't regret a single moment of it. Some things have to be lived to be fully understood in my view. I don't think it wise however to make a carreer out of it.

Well put Master PK.

A coupla others that always appealed to me...

"I'll be a devil, till I'm an angel...
...Gonna dance, gonna fly,
I'll take a chance riding high,
Before my number's up, I'm gonna fill my cup,
I'm gonna live, live, live, live, live until I die!"
-Sinatra

-and-

"I'm gonna keep on the run
I'm gonna have me some fun
If it costs me my very last dime
If I wind up broke up well
I'll always remember that I had a swingin' time"
-Elvis

Yeah, John I agree with what you are saying...and when that quote was sent to me, I just dug it. But I hesitated to post it because I thought it could be taken that way...that the only way to live life is to live life fast...
I dont agree with that either.

I choose to interpret the quote as meaning; don't sit in the corner, dont be afraid, try new things, its okay to indulge sometimes... find the way that is most meaningful to you to enjoy this ride. And as long as you aren't hurting anybody, and you live bravely and experience many things, you will live richly and will have done it right!

I think the sentiment works better when you're young. It did for me. As I got older, I slowed down realizing, perhaps, that I was mortal. Oh, I still enjoy life, just a little more moderation now. Of course, there were some fun times back then.

"I see men, sixty, seventy years old breaking their balls to stay fit! What for? When I die, I want to be sick, not healthy."
