hey guys,

i'm fairly new to AE, but i was wondering if anyone knew how to composite the shaking effect in the trailer after the woman cries, "I just want my life back!"

also, if anyone can provide a tutorial for how to execute this effect, it will be much appreciated.

The backround was sliced up into sections and then each section was wiggled. The girl was masked out of the original, and then shaken as well. Make sure you have background material under all the sections so when they move about, they wont reveal a black background of your comp, or whatever you comp color is. The camera was locked down, so you can export a frame into photoshop and using the clone stamp and healing brush, rebuild portions of the background layer (or many portions to be used on different layers).

You could use the Wiggler on it, key the vibrations by hand, use an audio file of weird non repetative sounds and convert that to keyframes, any number of ways. Keep motion blur on.

you may can do it in a blue screen, that helps to work less. (and then shake the woman and the backgroung in 2 different ways)

I think they go more into detail on their DVD about how they did their effects.

Here is a page that shows you a bit. It helps if you are familiar with compositing software to understand but you'll get the just of it I think.

i think they used Shake for this effect. it was a matter of slicing junk up and then laying out a bunch of layers of video in order to have each separate thing shake.
