Hey all. I no there is no way to have a mask with seperate feathers in different portions of it, but if you were looking for that use, how would you go about it?

Example, a person is next to an explosion that starts at his head. The feathering for the mask as it consumes the subject should be more as it approachs the point of the blast.

Light wraps would also benifit, as they falloff when different sections of the subects portions are closer to the camera.

Any idea how to pull that off? Parent one layer with Xfeathered mask to a null and have another layer with a different section of the overall mask parented also? that seems like it would work, but there would be a noticable change in feathering unless it was done in many stages.

That's probably the right line of thinking. However, if you're talking about something as fast-moving as an explosion, I really doubt anyone would ever have the chance to notice the edge between your masks.

If you find that you need to do this sort of thing often, I'd recommend you check out Silhouette Roto. It can do varying degrees of feathering and control on a per-point/face basis. http://www.silhouettefx.com

Create multiple masks with different feathers for different areas. You're not limited to one.
