Maybe we should form a cooperative with a computer graphics forum. You know, a bunch of people going "need help, but can't tell you publically what it is" is a lot less weird than one.

Wish I could help you guys, but I'll be working on the effects for mine and a friend's.

Snap! That's awesome! How long did those take?

Thanks Kholi and Larry R,

It's hard to tell exactly how long they took because i did them in little snippets here and there.
The explosion was done probably in a weekend... I'd never blown anything up before so it was a big learning process... It's not totally photoreal but I think it works ok.

The kitty one is actually a camera mapped photogragh (the blocks and toybox etc.) with the cat composited. I dont think the compositing is quite right in this case.

I think there's a lot that can be done with camera projections and other things to pull off a shot and make it really seamless, which is what i'd like to do, working on a hero-fest entry.

Haven't heard back yet from Macgregor, so if you guys (or someone else) are interested, drop me a line at murphy@lasercade.com. Please put "herofest" in the subject line... my spamfilter junked alot of replies i got from SciFest that I didnt see until months later (if you contacted me on SciFest, I'm sorry!! It won't happen again!).

thanks,

mm

HI!

I'm new in this forum. And I guess a good way to start making some friends around here is to offer my help... Hehe. I'm really good using Lightwave 3D and AFX, you can check some examples at www.8cho.com.mx (http://www.8cho.com.mx) Hope we can work something out.

Thanks a lot for checking my website! I'm glad you like it. As for my charges, I haven't read the rules of the forum yet (this is my 2nd post so far), so I don't know if it is rude or not to publicize services. Anyway If you are interested just send me a message and I'm sure we can arrange something.

That would be awesome. I'm not sure if I need sfx, but if I do they will be pretty simple. I would love it to look better than I could do trying to learn it on my own over such a short period of time.

By the way your website is great. I really liked the back to school commercial. The kid and his dog really had personality.

Yes, we did the drawings in Illustrator, and then we loaded everything in AFX. One really cool thing about that ad is that the 2 voices are from the same person, a really famous mexican voice over talent that does the "Pinky and Brain" voices for all latinamerica.
