Hi guys,

Got a question. I am using avid 5.2.3 and I am working with the HVX200. We had some 1080i/60 footage shot on the P2 cards and I wanted to import that into Avid. I copied the .mxf files from the P2 PCMCIA slot to the Avid MediaFiles directory. Then I went into avid and went to import the .mxf files and it says "file imported is not a supported XDCAM MXF file." What do I need to do to get these files into Avid? I made a new project at 1080/59.94 and need some help from here if anyone has done this. Thanks.

alsom I am using win xp sp2 pro.

You have to use the Media Tool, and then you can import them.

Hi Barry,

Thx for the swift reply. I tried to use the media tool and I had no luck. We transfered the .mxf files using the PCMCIA slot on a laptop to a folder we made on the harddrive, not directly from the camera because we needed to dump and reformat the cards to continue shooting footage. When i run the media tool I can only select my C,D,H hard drives. I can't navigate to a specific folder. What should my next logical step be to import these .mxf files into my bin. Thanks.

i got it working. When i go to play the clip in avid, it does not play. I can see the clip but it is just a still frame while the sound plays. When i stop the play, it updates the still clip to the frame it is actually on. Any solutions for this?

We'd need someone more experienced with Avid to answer that. I found that I could scrub the clip reasonably well, but playing back gave me similar performance to what you're getting, although it would occasionally update -- I'd get about 2 frames per second.

After that, I bought a Mac.

Still wish the Avid would work on the laptop; I'm going to try Edius Broadcast on the laptop to see if that works.

You'd probably get better performance if you transcoded the file to Avid's own codec, but I don't know quite how to advise you on that.
