Does anyone know of a good clear material for using in a mold for a brain? I need to make a mold of brain that is clear.

What kind of consistency does it have? I would prefer something that is gel-like, kind of squishy:grin:

plain gelatin. At the grocery store.

Sorry I didn't post enough info...the brain mold has to be clear so I can mix different colors in with the material to have diff. sections of teh brain colored, then there will be LED lights under each section to light them up independently. It's for the girlfriends college project so she can graduate with Honors...it has to last more than a few days...

Keep 'em coming!

I think John has the best solution..resin indead.
Have you got a lot of cash? If so, you could use a two part acrylic fx mix. It's expenise as hell and a brain would probably cost you a few hundred bucks or more.

But incase you ever just need a brain....

Okay maybe your budget isn't that bad. Try these instead....

They still use Latex to make a brain with these days as far as I know. I've searched around for a few examples. The one below could look a lot better if you reapply some colouring to it and smear a gel or vaseline on it for that wet look. Yum.

Here is another..possibly the same thing but a crappy picture of it:

I would get some Ben Nye or even better Kryolan makeup and some really good brushes if you are serious and redo these suckers. Either that or do some airbrushing if you are able. For around 10 bucks you can't go wrong.:kali:

A brain made of jello isn't going to last for a few days. Zombies love brains, ...and a multi-colored jello brain is like the holy grail.

Thanks Angrius, that mold is perfect. The one I found earlier was too big for the plastic head I'm using. Those brains look good, but I need it to be clear for the light to shine through.

I'd eat brain-shaped Jello. As long as it isn't strawberry. Or with chunks of fruit in it.

(Did you know that they tried and rejected cola-flavored Jello because they thought it wouldn't sell?)

I'd eat cola flavored jello, maybe root beer cream soda flavor!

Here is what you do to get your clear brain.
Buy one of those brains shown, make a reverse mold and then fill your your reverse mold with resin and string in your LEDS. Voila. If you are not sure what a reverse mold is google it.:)
