how would i make and image shake back and forth in AE 6.5 without physcally puting key frames in and moving it each time?
You got pro version? Then you'll find "The Wiggler" in the Window menu.

Why would you not want to use keyframes?
You can create a 3d camera, make your layer 3d, and then keyframe the camera with the shakes. Don't forget to check motion blur off for the layer, and open up the Comp's settings and click the advanced tab and set your shutter angle to match the cams/
with expressions. wiggle it is just one line... and you do not have to use keryframes

There is some plugin named "earthquake"..can't remember who makes it..I think it's from digifects (somebody help me out here). It's pretty great.

You could probably use a sound file and use the "convert audio to keyframes" option under the Keyframe assistant. You would definately get some results. It's still keyframing, but just not by hand.
After you get your keyframes from the audio, copy and paste em in whatever position you want it to shake. You will prolly have to enlage your layer slightly so you don't see the edges.
Aprt from that, what others have suggested here should work.

great find..bookmarked
ohh, it is so easy??? :@ I hate AE, becasuse I wanted to install the English version, but it installs as German, because my windows is German, because, I have bought my PC in Austria, but i do not understand German, so I find nothing usually... :@. I wanna English. Can I change it somewhere?
I think so. I changed my German 6.5 version into English: there is a link in the Languages-folder, maybe it is already an English link, if not, add parameters ' -L EN' after \AfterFX.exe" in your general AFX-link. Maybe there is an other way...
yes, I have just found that folder :@ but :dankk2:
:badputer: :badputer: :badputer:
Sorry, don't understand. It works? Or something wrong?
:badputer:
This looks like something wrong.
It used to be wrong... :)
