Spotted this on DVinfo, it's allready a few days old news, but I figured I'd post over here as I didn't see a thread yet.

Sony has announced the HDR-HC3 consumer camcorder.

Info on the Sony site: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=HDRHC3&Dept=cameras&CategoryName=dcc_DICamcorders_HighDefinitionVideo
(How's that for a long URL?)

Basic & intersting 'features':
>HDV - 1080i (duh).
>1/3" 2100K pixel CMOS sensor.
>No headphone or mic jack(!). Analog (Inc. component) out, no analog in. iLink (Firewire) In/out. LANC port.
>"Smooth Slow Recording" - Basically a burst of slowmo using the camera's internal buffer allows you to run at 120 frames/sec for 3 seconds (taking up 12sec on the tape/in playback. Interesting trick. - HVX just lost first place for top framerate, god knows how this looks as it's still interlaced (I presume) though!
>You can shoot a 2.3MP still frame to memory stick while shooting normal motion video. This one I'd call usefull.
>"assignable dial" - similar to a "user" defined button, but it's a dial.

Slated to being pre-orders in March

Rumors are that this will replace the HC1. Knowing sony's product lifespan, I'm supprized the HC1 has survived this long.
