I need to say thanks to all the members, especially Paul (Frizzle Fry) for helping out so much. Below are the specs. I will post some pics soon (Not because you care, but because I'm anxious to show.) I have listed the specs below. I do have one question: If I upgrade to the HVX, what will I have to do/upgrade to be able to handle the footage? Or is my setup not going to cut it either way?
Specs:
ASUS P5LD2 Deluxe Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 945P ATX Intel Motherboard
Thermaltake Armor Case
Western Digital Raptor(75 gig) HD
Western Digital 400GB HD
Pentium D Dual Core Processor
Geforce 6800 Video card (looking to upgrade soon)
Creative X-Fi Platinum Sound card
1 Gig Ram (going to add another very soon)
I think that's it.

Pentium D Dual Core Processor....
speed?
Man, I'm still working on mine. It had some sort of bad hardware... I think it was the mobo, so I sent it back to ASUS, and now they're charging me $40. Lame.
Anyway, congrats on the build! I can't wait until I can make the same claim.

i'd get more RAM if you want to have an HVX and run HD footage on there. i'd also upgrade the video card to atleast a geforce 7800gt....that card itself is pretty badass.

So more ram is all I'll need? Anybody have any other input as to what I might need to be able to edit dvcpro hd footage?

Yo Slim, glad everything worked out for you! As for editing DVCPRO-HD, you'd do well to add another gig of RAM. But I wouldn't add any more than that due to the law of diminishing returns. And I'm not sure how well the whole Vegas+Raylight deal works. As I understand, it's quite processor-intensive...and storage intensive. Don't do it now, but you'll be looking for more hard drive space fairly soon after you begin your HVX adventures.

If you're using Vegas (or most others, for that matter), the video card's got nothing to do with HD performance.

What about Canopus...it sounds like it does HD well on a PC. Does it use the Video Card?

More Ram you will find that is going to make a big difference in HD. and another 400+ hard drive. Thats just me
