I always likened Don Knotts to Dick Van Dyke in that both had great respective success in television...but neither comedic genius was utilized enough in films.
You will be missed, Deputy Fife...
RIP

He was in his prime while on the Andy Griffith show. A pure comic genius.

My favorite show as a child and as an adult. Andy Griffith Show. Very sad to hear the news about Don Knotts. When I saw him in "Pleasantville" a few years back I though "wow he's good at any age".
Rest in Peace.

Even though he was 81, he was still nipped in the bud. ;)

he was always at the brunt of a joke. and he knew his strong points as an actor tried not to be someone he wasn't. that's the key to acting. and he knew who he was. DON KNOTTS BROUGHT LAUGHTER IN MANY HOUSES......MAYBE HE'LL SHED A LITTLE LAUGHTER UP THERE!:love4: :dankk2:

Don Knotts was a comedic genius. It doesn't get any better than his portrayal of Barney Fife. His passing is sad news, but he and his artistic contributions will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, Deputy Fife! :crybaby:

He was so honest in his comedic portrayal of a character who wanted to be more than he was. He managed to show the lighter side of the jealousies and insecurities within all of us. He had a heart of gold.
