The chips in their HVX200 are indeed 960x540 using H/V pixel shift as was predicted long ago. Now we know why the camera looks so soft compared to others.
Got this from CML. Is it true?

Part of it is true. The chips are confirmed 960x540. But "so soft compared to others"? Says who?
Here's a res chart that shows the HVX against the HD100 and the FX1 (sorry, don't have a Canon and neither does anyone else in town and I'm not gonna spend $9,000 on one just so I can run tests on it).

Does it look "soft" compared to the others? Doesn't to me. And that's in black and white; in real-world testing, where the twice-as-high color resolution comes into play, the HVX looks SHARPER than the others.

I should add that comment did not come from me.... was from CML forum.

No prob, I understood what you were saying, the post looks familiar. I just don't get why someone would say that -- I mean, check out Ilya Friedman's post over in the other thread about this, about "the HVX is plenty sharp even after blowup to 35mm film." This is from someone who's actually done it.
Anyway, this thread should probably be closed down since there's another thread about the subject that's already running and is more established.
