Say the Red product is $50K-100K and you are a wedding videographer (for now, gear like this could easily open you up into something big) would it be nutty to shoot wedding with this cam?

Would you buy it and charge insane prices?

Bear in mind you don't have to use the full Monty of the cams capabilities.

Keep in mind also that I have seen DSR300 and many other 2/3 ccd cams on the wedding circuit that some are in that price range.

I think it would be like shooting a wedding with an f900, way way way way overkill in my opinion. If you bought the camera for other purposes fine whatever I have know people with an SDX900 and shot some some way below par for it but hey that had it on hand, but if you buy it and your main pay off for the camera is weddings. I would consider another camera.

lol that would be pretty nuts.

That'd be any video geek's dream. Have your wedding video shot on 35mm. Hire a hollywood DP and lighting crew. LOL

I think the red would be a bit overkill, but who knows, by the time this thing rolls out, maybe some superHD formats will come along that will support the quality that the RED can produce... and clients will want that. Just a thought.

Haha the only client I could see asking people for 4k for his wedding would George Lucas.

What if the cam was $65K would you shoot weddings with it then?

You would hafto sell off other gear and make payments for awhile :^) but not out of the realm of feasible.

That's funny, I never got the impression that Georgie-boy actually cared for the quality of the picture.
