I was wondering how to convert raw p2 video files to MOV or AVI's without the loss of quality. Does anybody know of any programs that would be useful for this or techniques to do this successfully. Thanks.

P2 video files are automatically converted to Mov files if you use FCP 5.04.

The Focus Enhancements product only works on DV or DVCPRO level files today.

One should be able to do this with any NLE that supports MXF files directly, could they not? FCP or Edius Broadcast come to mind.

Yes, or Premiere or Vegas if running RayLight.

doesnt panasonic provide some kind of player/converter that comes with the camera? It would make it more appealing (at least to me) if it did convert the file over, that way I could use it until my NLE could handle it natively. I have vegas no but no raylight

panasonic only providers a player - not a converter - but it would be nice indeed if they did :)

CERTAINLY! One of my big holdups to upgrading to this new cam was not being able to do much with P2 on the PC side. This would let the NLEs catch up. My hope is that Vegas 7 will support it, I dont want to have to go back to premiere (yuck)
