laptop freezing on ejecting P2

I was having a bit of trouble when ejecting a P2 card from my Mac laptop. It doesn't happen every time but often enough to be a pain in the ass It will freeze, making restart a must. I have the latest version of FCP and the Panny drivers, any anybody else ran across this or have a fix suggestion? Thanks.

Are you dragging the p2 card to the trash or hitting apple+E key before manually ejecting the card from the PCMICA slot?

I have been dragging it down to the eject slot and also ctrl+click'ing on the P2 icon. It seems to happen most often when I "power off" the card from the top of banner.
