My friend and I were playing around with the settings on the XL2 to get it to look the most filmlike that we could. We did no color correction what so ever. It was taken staight from the camcorder. We also played around with the camcorder to see how good of a depth of field it had. This camcorder is amazing. The footage was shot at 30fps because I didn't have an editing program to edit at 24fps. I'm going to be getting an editing system in a few weeks, so I can shoot my film at 24fps. We weren't able to test out all the settings on the Xl2 because we only had a certain amount of time with the XL2, but here are some screen grabs from what we shot. Let me know what you think.

Your grabs look sqeezed as if you forgot to convert the Pixel Aspect Ratio. You can shoot in 24p normal and edit in a 29.97 in the meantime until you have an NLE that can edit in a true 24P enviornement. If you are using premier pro only use 24p advanced
