Hey guys,

I'm fairly new to the board (this is only my second post!). I'm nearly done raising funds to complete a feature on the HVX200 and was wondering if anyone had comments on how the 1080i/24p blows up to 35mm. I know that on the DVX and PD150 certain colors were to be avoided, are there any similar issues with the HVX or is it still to early to tell on that front?

Avoid very saturated reds. They still have some distortion, although much better than the DVX. Turning saturation down to -2 or -3 will help, especially if your using Cinelike_D. Other than that try to keep your exposures in range and you will have a very nice image for projection.

I guess the settings Barry suggested for redusing noice can be applied for a better image.
(For lowest noise use black press gamma (or cinelike-V), coring +7, detail -4 or -5, and normal matrix, and for skin tones turn the skin tone dtl feature on. For lower saturation crank down the chroma level setting to taste.)
I remember someone else suggestin to shoot in 720p over 1080P
Please someone correct me if I am wrong.

The noise is more visible on LCD displays than in a projection. I have a 720P DLP Cinema Projector and although you can see the difference in noise between the differnet gammas it's very slight. I would recomend shooting Cinelike_D out doors and in mostt well lit situations. Then switch to Cinelike_V or Black press for your lower light shots. However I do feel the 1080P is the better format for to shoot for projection.
