Does anyone know if the HVX has more zoom steps than the DVX had?

As I recall, the DVX had something like 3 or 4...while the Canon XL cameras had something like 6. One of the few areas the DVX had for improvement was more steps for a smoother zoom when using zoom controls...

Any word from Jan or Panny on some improvement in the HVX?

Looks like it's still 3 steps...

There are three steps but the slow is slower , I haven't done a comparison but the slowest speed is very slow and in my opinion much better than the orig DVX100.

Right... I also have an original 100... but the "A" had a slower slow than that, and the B I think went even slower. Would be interesting to know where the HVX falls... I'd assume double-slowed, like the B!

Problem is, we need more than 3 steps to get a smooth control with a remote zoom. I really think Panny should have gone to at least 5...

Are you guys talking about 3 speeds altogether or 3 speeds on the extra zoom button up top? I'd be real surprised if it is only 2 variable speeds on the regular zoom. It seems very responsive and reacts well to all different kinds of pressure.

Three on the zoom motor driving the lens. Hopefully, with the new slower speed of the 200, we can loose the initial "hop" that would occur when using handle mounted remote zoom controls. This was one area where the JVC 100 clearly had an advantage over the 200
