Ok, as we all know all too well, speculation is fun. Especially when there are no facts and anything goes. So here we go, a battle borne of the imagination - the battlefield is 2007, the inciter is Barry Green with his percolating post in another thread ...

IN THE RIGHT CORNER, wearing (red) of course, we have - uh - RED. 4:4:4, 60p with variable frame rates, S35 sensor, HD-SDI output, records to HD or Flash, 720p up thru 4k, and with lenses, body and all it costs a PURELY HYPOTHETICAL $30k. Ready to go, record, up to whatever. For hypothesis's sake.

IN THE LEFT CORNER, wearing a dazzling black/green brocade pattern boxer trunks emblazoned with "MOUNTAIN RIVERA", we have the brand new Juan/Pana-branded HVXAndromeda. 1920x1080 max res, 4:4:4 uncompressed over HD-SDI, also does variable frame rates, 1/3 ccd sensor, records to laptop or flash, and just to sweeten the pot a bit, we'll toss in a G35 with geared Nikon primes to taste. The bill - about half as much, $15k.

Who is the victor? Who? Make your choice now, oh mighty warriors.

I need to wait until after NAB to join in this speculation.

And why would that be Blaine?

What about the Blue Camera? It's specs are really sweet. I think it has holographic imagers in 4:4:4:4 color.

The Blue RULES ALL!!!!

I don't think that Juan would be able to get the same performance hike from the HVX as he does from the DVX, because the HVX CCDs are less than native. The HVX has already been "Andromedadised" to some extent.

Therefore, I vote for the Red, even at twice the price.

Anybody heard about a 2/3" Andromeda? Now that 2/3 SD-cams are getting "cheap" that might be a deal.

SDX900 Andromeda would be a winner! Gee, that wouldn't be too expensive, either! Maybe $15k plus a lens...

Maybe better take the AJ-SPX800 and use its P2-slots?

Here's another Pana cam that might be interesting for Andromeda or maybe it's just good as it is (it's a cam only, needs a CCU also): AK-HC1500

Aye, it's one heck of a cam for MSRP of $20k; great times for HD are afoot! :)

Really amazing. That cam seems to finally close the gape between the Varicam and the HVX. But with glass, HD-viewfinder and a set of P2-cards it will be at least 40k, not 20k. Or, in other terms: it will cost 5 HVX. But I like the look of 2/3" cams :crybaby:
