Hi all,

I'm a previous XL1 owner. I started a show with that camera, now I sold it. I have my HD100 shipping to me in 4-5 days. I have this same show shoot coming up pretty much a day after I get it... so I'll only have about a day to field test and get the settings right.

1st: I shot this show with the XL1 in 30P "frame" mode. I may be missing something but doesn't the HD100 shoot 30P in DV mode? I see 480/60P in the specs under DV recording, is that the 30P mode?

2nd: Any clues as to how to set up the camera so it roughly matches the XL1? Has anybody done this before?

You help and suggestion is much appreciated.

The HD100 does not have 30P mode. In DV it offers 24P and 60i.

The 480/60P mode is considered an HDV mode; it's MPEG-2 720x480 at 60P at 19 megabits.

For comp footage to the Canon, just shoot 480 60i in the JVC. We had to press a Canon into use mixing it with 2 JVCs and there was no problem in the NLE timeline.

You could theoretically drop every other frame and end up with 30p =)

I'm passing the tapes onto my client and they'll edit. Just want to make sure they will not have a problem in FCP later with mismatched frame rate footage. cheers

I like the "just deinterlace" comment. Is that like "just do it."? :-)
