Got the camera last week and put it to use on a quick 24 hour turn-a-round commercial. Was guerrilla I tell you, daylight through window mixed with indoor flourescents, but the lattitude and lens on the camera handled well. And color correction was easy in the 4:2:2 color space.

I am in love with DVCPRO50 and am never using dv again.

P2 was cake on Dual G5 FCP5.4. Imported in about 10 minutes for to 4 GB cards. Commercial burned to Data-DVD for Backup.

THANK YOU PANASONIC!!!!

Nice 4:3 look. And mix vivid & flat colors, too.

EDIT -- First post...well, you're welcome to our forum!

Yeah,

Thanks! Been lurking in the shadows, but will contribute now that I have my HVX.

I'll post some more creative stuff I've been working on when it's finished.

That reminds me of commercials spot I used to cut for this greasy producer my boss did favors for. Then I told him that my rates went up by almost 200% after 2006 and I haven't heard from him since

good quick commercial

Lol, I know what you mean. I'm sick of looking at hair nails and eyebrows. I need a good gun commercial after this estrogen bath I've had...

He He.

P.S. Where do I go to set up a sig and avatar?

Thank you for Hosting. Need to work on my bandwidth for company server.

Quick question: I have only done dv before my HVX...What do you guys do for delivery of DVCPRO50 footage to the network. None of ours use the format and I don't have a deck cause they're insanely expensive anyways.

I've heard they like Beta SP. Is there any low cost solutions out there as I will only be using it for final out? What about tape price, is it cheap?

Thanks for the help.

Beta SP tapes are cheap, like $10. or so for a 30 minute. Welcome to my nightmare by the way. Nobody where I live has the DVCPRO50 decks either, especially not the TV stations. They barely even have DV decks here!

I've been going through the struggle/hassle of finding places to get component dubs from DV for 5 years now.

My thought on tape out would be to create a file and send it to a post house for output to Beta SP, which is still the defacto broadcast tape standard.

Really, TV stations need to get up to speed bigtime and accept at least one file format for spots. It's not that hard. That stuff could be uploaded to an ftp server, they could either input it to their systems (who knows how that works...) or output to tape and you're done!

For what it's worth, here in Australia the majority of commercials arrive on station via FTP. Only about 20% arrive on tape now and those that do are predominantly from the smaller production houses.

Having to dub to SP seems a bit backwards but if there's no other option.....
