Why is "D" the best Nikon screen to get. There are so many, but what makes the D stand out the most? If someone could point this out to me I'd appreciate it.

its the only 35mm sized screen Nikon makes that has no grids or circles etched in it, its plain and with no lines and with a small condensor built in to the front. If you want one, sign up at B&H to be notified when they are back in stock, cause when they are they will go FAST

The Nikon D screen is not working with my gs150 and Minolta 1:1.7. Im going to replace the condenser with another i ordered from Surplus Shed
I think the Nikon D will only work with a camera with a large diameter lens such as the dvx100 or gl2.
Also the Nikon D focus screen is made for ~135mm lenses.
If you dont have a camcorder with a large diameter lens, people do get them to work with a 24mm camcorder lens but you'll need a 1:1.4 SLR.
I personally think this screen is not the best way to go for the simple reason that your stickng a short lens onto a focus screen engineered for long lenses. But its a mater of opinion.

Well, it sure seemed to work great for some of the 35mm adapter designs that used it. If you want to use it, go ahead. But, I'd REALLY look into it before trying to build your own 35mm adapter, after all the costs of tools, tubing, tape, macros, and all the other possible miscellaneous expeditures, you'd be better off buying a micro35 or G35.
