View Full Version : Tape Compartment Door

I've noticed that the DVX 100b tape compartment door seems to have a two stage opening process. When I press the little blue button, the outer tape compartment door clicks open halfway. I then have to manually open the door the rest of the way for the tape transport mechanism to eject the tape. Conversely, shutting the outer door is also a two stage process. When shutting the outer door, there's a distinctive halfway point click before I close the door all the way. I have never owned any previous versions of the DVX 100 and am wondering if this has been intentionally designed this way and why. My previous other brand camera tape transport doors click open all the way without a two stage process.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

H

Hello Hugh,

The AG-DVX100P and the AG-DVX100AP had a different tape mechanism than the AG-DVX100BP and the AG-HVX200P. Before if was a one-step process and now in the latest versions it is a two-stage process. It is just because they decided to go with a more robust tape mechanism and that ended up being the final design.
