So far the best thing about AE 7 is the render time improvement. The new render engine feels like it is twice as fast.

Do any of you AE users use Motion 2 at all? Does this program stack up against AE at all? I want to study and learn one of them extensively, not sure which one is better.

It really depends on what your trying to do and what other applications you will be using to do it.

I think Motion2 is a better tool for designing broadcast graphics and AE is much better at effects compositing.

I like AE much better because of its integration with all of Adobe's other products. Generally I work with several artists who contribute elements from Photoshop, Illustrator and get conformed in Premiere. :love4:

If you want to produce broadcast graphics, although AE can do most everything Motion2 can, its pretty hard to beat Motion's slick implementation of animation presets and behavioural animation.

Are you wanting to produce effects or graphics for yourself? Do you want to get a job doing effects compositing? Or get a job doing broadcast graphics?

If you want to work in effects then there are probably more entry level jobs using AE, but most of the broadcast graphics are still produced with Chyron and Flame's but that seems to be changing. :2vrolijk_08:
