Really nice stuff.
What did you shoot in? Was it 720/24p?
I wish I had some cool stuff to show. All I shot today was my backyard which ... well, it's just not interesting.

Some thoughts on this, as I live in pretty much a pale blue sky/grey straw ground universe until spring comes, and the back yard is pretty much puppy poop...
-Zoo (Always interesting to photograph animals in their artifical environments)
-Sunrise/sunset (ordinary locations look magical at magic hour)

How about heading over to the Chicago Auto show and getting some footage? Stop in and get a press pass on the third floor at McCormick and have free reign over the show. How about pull some rack focus work on the Bentley?

It was shot with 720p24. I admit that some of it has some grain but I think it is because I underexposed and used 1/64 ND filter. Any opinions on that? And it was all shot with a direct connection in to FCP. No money for P2 card:(

was the grain there on the original footage as well as the mp4? Seems to be only noticable in certain sections. The nighttime footage looked awesome.
Thanks for sharing

The grain you may be noticing was there in the original footage. I thought it was because it was underexposed and grain appears in dark areas, but as you can see in the night time footage, there is virtually no grain at all. Any thoughts?

The nighttest clip is very nice. Did you correct color? If not, the camera has the most accurate spectrum response I have seen on a camera at this price range so far and probably the best color filters on its CCD (no noticable leak). I'm surprised by how color qualities go unnoticed and everybody discusses resolution. Till now the FX1/Z1 had the best color IMHO but with a little of video feel which I assume comes from filter anomalies. Of course, I would take any HD camera over the Canon just because the color response is so bad in every single situation.
Another thing I noticed is the way it handles motion blur. There is somone on a bike(?) moving through the whole frame in 4 or 5 frames at 0:49. The blur is simply fantastic. Blur is something that is rarely tested. In all the night clips of Canon I can see 3 to 5 images (depending on exposure) blended one on top of the other and nothing like real blur. Easy to see on lights where contrast is high enough. Same thing with some cheap digicams. It has to do with how ccd handles exposure. Multiple shorter exposures and nothing close to a filmic continuous exposure.
Abberations are visible in some parts in large zoom and this is the first clip that actually shows that. They are not bad considering the price of the camera. We also get the blue halo in high contrast transitions but we have seen that in most clips.
Overall, the camera has nice optics for the price, hassle free progressive, no motion artifacts, and accurate color which is impressive. I couldn't care less for P2 workflow or variable frame rates:) I hope we get a PAL version soon and a hard disk recorder to go with that.
How is monitoring when recording to FCP using DVCPROHD? Resolution? Refresh rate?
Is it too much if I ask for a couple of pngs from 00:47, 1:03 and 1:11? :) The clip is compressed 20:1 or something like that so that would be really helpful.

Hey,
thanks for sharing the clip!
For running and gunning on a cold day in NY, I thought the camera holds up nicely.
Though I´m more fond of well-lit tripod footage, the clip shows the potential for documentary use of the HVX.
Good bye DigiBeta...

What was the story with that zoom? Does it really zoom that fast or was the footage sped up?

Thanks for that. Good stuff. That one shot of the building was just so detailed, this camera kicks ass.
The video makes me miss NYC, I only got to stay a week.
Night footage was really sweet as well. Little noise (gasp!, don't tell anyone!)

It was so quick I must have blinked. Is there any chance that you could post some night clips like these below in more length like my friend did.

The HVX has a true manual zoom, so yes you can do real "snap zooms" like that.

Damn... My buddy got his HVX today.. Well, it was really mine but I let him take my spot so I could save money and buy it from Cali. When I see some good looking stuff it really does make me think I should have paid more and had it already.
I'm not sure if others felt this way initially, but I was more worried about the exterior stuff..the highlights and the lattitude needed for uncontrolled environments, and man was I WRONG. The exterior footage looks to be so rock solid on most of the things I've seen. It might be the interior footage that requires some tweeking.
Again, that wolf footage that Barry linked was unbelievable...that river rock footage.. and the airport/ night exterior footage on yours....
Thanks so much to those people who have been giving us a footage "BONE". It helps to quell the savage beast inside... I will also do the same and I'm trying to bribe my buddy into letting me take the camera for a few hours and if someone can post some footage.. I'll do my best to get some beauty shots. I really want to go down to the local flyfishing place.. take him out at dusk and shoot some 60fps shots of him flying out the rod... and then take some footage of the wakeboarders and maybe some of my skating buddies.
I think it'll be so important for all of us late comers to offer up what these generous first image makers have done....
