Thanks for sharing those, Jack. Pretty cool stuff. Do you still hate the lens or are you starting to get a feel for it?

Yeah, the Canon is an interesting camera, no question. How many channels of sound can you get going into it? I know the HVX does four (2 internal).

Elton, I had the cam only for 3 days, so I cannot say much except my first impressions. One might get used to the lens and it can generate excellent DOF out of the box, even without a G35. There is some serious CA when full wide, but that's a problem every HD cam / Lens seem to have.
Worse than the lens was the view finder, I did not have an oportunity to try the high-res b/w one. So a good external HD monitor is a must. We used DVrack on some shots (not on the ones I've uploaded) and that helped a lot.
There are also 4 tracks of audio on the XL H1, but MPEG1 Audio Layer2 compressed at 48 kHz. For most stuff it should be good enough. Only if I would have to record the "Neujahrskonzert", I would bring my DAT recorder ;)

Wow, DVrack...I never thought of that one as a good field monitor. Why not?! Console software actually would be the ultimate for this as you can control everything about the camera too...from a laptop!
I have found the DOF to be better than I thought possible with a 1/3" camera too.
I've also seen the CA too, but it's not a dealbreaker. I love how sharp the lens is in general.
I have a few clips I'm uploading right now that show some DOF. It's from a gun safety PSA production. It was shot with a SDX900, but I brought my H1 to film a few things just for fun.
Don't worry, the gun wasn't real...
