I am deciding between H1 and HVX200. One thing I value is getting a shallow depth of field. On my DVX, I know to zoom in and open up. Given the 20x zoom on the stock H1 lens and the 13x lens of the HVX200, is it the case that I'll be able to get shallow depth of field more easily with the H1? (That's assuming I have the space to back up, of course.)
I've not seen any direct comparison in this regard for the two cameras. Thoughts?

Yes, the H1 is capable of a shallower DOF effect because it has a longer telephoto lens. Provided you have the space to take advantage of it, of course. The HVX is better than the DVX in this regard, 55mm vs. 45mm, but the XLH1 can go as far as 110mm.

Don't forget the XL has almost no wide angle though.

The HD100 goes as far as 88mm. I may go with this camera because it's cheaper than the Canon and since I shoot almost exclusively interviews, I'm not concerned about a lack of a wide-angle lens.

If you just want 24p, and 30p, the HD100 is a great option. It's more work and expense if you want the 60p "normal" or "live" video look though. The H1's 1080i is pretty good for this purpose, however.
