So I have a shot of a guy, close up on his face, all of a sudden his eyes turn to red in the pupils, building rage. The camera pulls back as he shoots a stream of lightning from his palms.

For this effect in his eyes, I was thinking of masking his iris and applying the proper CC and fx to the inner eye, then just tracking the mask as the camera pulls away.

Any suggestions on an easier way to do this? What about the filter for the eye? Im thinking something along the lines of an "anakin star wars episode III" feel.

Suggestions?

You might want to look at this:

I'm not sure how far they explain it here but it is also in their DVD.

I would use trapcode's shine for the effect with levels and curves to control the color. You might want to play with duplicating the layer and roto the eye out so you have a layer with just the eye to work with. This was you have the ability to play with diff. blending modes and if you roto it good enough you don't have to worry about tracking (which can be a real pain in AE, especially with older versions)

Why not use the secondary color corrector?

Im more worried about tracking the fx eye layer to the clean plate, is their some type of tracker where I can just select the points on the clean plate and the fx layer will stick to it, without having to do a bunch of roto'ing?
