Well I found this link and it looks like it is better than the infamous $14 steadycam (which I built in the past before I bought a Glidecam 4000)...
I thought some DIY people could get a kick out of this for their uses...

MUCH better than the $14 thing.
I've seen it before, and it coudl be improved (by putting the pan bearing in teh stage, not in the handle.
But that "JR" style stabilizer is the best for handheld stuff, and also a prety easy (and low parts (=cheap)) build.

I've tried both this one and the $14 steadicam. I actually found the $14 rig to work a lot better for me. But then again, I am a rather large oufe who shoots camera like I'm riding in a canoe down a waterfall...so anything helps.
Looks neat. Do you think Gorilla Glue or some other type of adhesive would work instead of the solder?

Epoxy might work well.
