What's the difference between recording 24P Native and whatever you call the opposite - 24P normal or non native.
I understandd that native is only possible thru the P2 card & not through firewire.
Are there any implications for quality?
How does it affect the rest of the editing workflow?

Simply- Native means it actually only records 24 frames per second (to disk), 24p records 29.97 frames per second (to tape usually), with 24 of those frames being distinct, and the rest are duplicates, giving an illusion of 24 fps recorded motion.
something like that

There is no difference in quality. There are two modes: "native", and "over 60". "Native" records only the frames that you actually shoot, whereas "over 60" embeds the frames within a 60fps data stream. That 60fps stream is then compatible with DVCPRO-HD tape, can be converted with the frame rate conversion utility, can be streamed out the firewire, etc. It's more compatible, but it takes up more space.
The "native" mode can't be streamed over the firewire etc., but it takes up less space on the card.
If you recorded in "over 60" mode and used Apple's Cinema Tools to extract the pulldown, the resulting file would be identical to one that had been recorded as "native" mode.

Thanks Barry,
This may not be a good question for you though -
Do you have to treat the differently in Final Cut Pro, and are there problems if they are in the same time line?
