I've been waiting 20 years for someone to make "The Mote In God's Eye".

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0671741926/sr=1-1/qid=1137960078/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3209647-8368916?%5Fencoding=UTF8

With the advances in technology, I'm a little surprised it hasn't happened.

I would say Wong Kar-Wais "Lady from Shanghai (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0439663/)" and "Scoop (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457513/)" by Woody Allen.

Cheers,

i totally agree with that one. also i think its still in post production so i think it counts, The DaVinci Code. I'm so excited about it. Also the Fountain looks like it's going to be sweet.

INDY 4

Raider's is on my top films ever list but if it';s anything like the pattern that has followed it will suck. It's too bad George has to have any involvement in it.

For me, I'll say QT's and Rodriguez's "Grindhouse".

I would say "Inglorius Bastards", but knowing QT it could be years before that rolls...

I'm also looking forward to Fincher's "Zodiac" and Depalma's "The Black Dahlia".

Here's a cool quote from Rodriguez about "Grindhouse" -

"I'd love to shoot old style again. We started shooting on GRIND HOUSE with just a second unit, and i loved how that felt. we didn't even have a sound guy, i just had the mic plugged into the HD camera and monitored the sound with my ipod headphones. it was very cool.
we moved so fast and got so much done it was unbelievable"

01-22-2006, 03:23 PM
For me it's "The Lady From Shanghai" - Wong Kar Wai

"Tideland" - Terry Gilliam (waiting for a distributor)

"The Departed" - Martin Scorscese (with Matt Damon, a remake of Infernal Affairs)

And Brad Pitt's "Jesse James" film. Good Westerns =

Cheers.

i totally forgot about V For Vendetta! This is the only film I'm more excited about than DaVinci Code. The early reviews for it say its phenomenal. I'm a huge Natalie Portman fan (i know she's not a favorite on the board but I love her work). The trailers look freakin sweet. Just a couple months away

I thought I was looking forward to Boondock Saints 2... but it's in production page has disappeared off IMDB.

Soon:

V for Vendetta.
Ultraviolet
Scanner Darkly!
Silent Hill(loved Brotherhood of)

This summer:

1)Superman - no I'm not gay. Want to see how amazing the Genesis looks on the IMax screen.
2)Miami Vice
3)XMen - the trailer pulled me in, hope Ratner doesn't put me off.
4)Da Vinci Code - solid trailer, excellent cast.
5)Lady in the Water - Shyamalan deserves another shot.
but most of all ..... mother f'in SNAKES ON A PLANE!!

The Future:

The Fountain - whenever that comes out.
Ghost Rider
The Prestige
Whichever Dr.Boll classic is up next!

Plot Outline: Set in the inland valley outside of Los Angeles, David Lynch's new film is a mystery about a woman in trouble.

Oh yeah; sounds good.

Shot on a Sony DSR-PD150 (http://www.imdb.com/SearchTechnical?CAM:Sony%20DSR-PD150) ?

Thank god no one's said the Pirates of Carribean films. That alone gives me hope for mankind (and DVXuser).

John, I'm surprised you haven't said 'Splash 2', er, I mean 'Lady in the Water, A Bedtime story by increasingly out-of-touch-with-reality director M. Night Shaylayman.'

This Hard Candy movie looks pretty cool. I don't remember a trailer that 'different' in a long time.

Grindhouse, Indy 4, Miami Vice, Hot Fuzz, and pretty much every other film Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright are involved with (such as the Good Night, but not really too keen on MI:3)

Pirates 2, Silent Hill, The Fountain, Hard Candy, Superman, and Moonshine; in no particular order.

What's wrong with Dead Man's Chest? Sheesh... the first one was a good/fun movie. Oh well, to each their own.

Flags of Our Fathers (Eastwoods new movie) I originally read that there would be two movies, one from American perspective of Iwo Jima and WWII in the Pacific, and the other from Japanese perspective of the same events...pretty novel idea.

Anything from QT is always anticipated as well as A Scanner Darly. Also a new doc on the slave conditions that Nike uses in it's Thailand factories, can't remember the name right now.

I've got weird choices:

1. James Cameron's next 3D project UNLESS it has to do with the water.

2. Indy 4. (Although I have my doubts...)

3. Perfume. (Soooooooo exceited about this one.)

(Untitled) TRANSFORMERS film!

Director- Michael Bay

Plot Outline: A live-action version of the original Transformers TV series involves an alien race of robots called the Autobots and the Decepticons crash landing on Earth where they battle for the ultimate power source: Energon.

I was just reading the latest issue of Wired and it had the top 50 robots of all time and Optimus Prime was only 29th I think...pretty sad. They also left out Mega Man and Johnny 5 (from Short Circuit), I think I'm going to write them a letter about it.

But, really, Transformers movie would be great!

I went to check it out but quit before the review...spoilers...

I'm sure I'll see since I'm a BIG fan. Hell, I even liked The Village which seems to be panned by many people. I really enjoy his visual style, he always gives you something interesting to look at. To me, the weakest of his movies was Signs. The Sixth Sense was a masterpiece IMO.

Signs and Unbreakable are my favs. I also really like comics (still) and aliens.

I loved the look of the Village but on repeated viewings the movie just bugs me.

I'm not sure when it comes out, but I'm really looking forward to Mike Judge's Idiocracy.

from IMDB.com (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/)

Private Joe Bowers, the definition of "average American", is selected by the Pentagon to be the guinea pig for a top-secret hibernation program, set 1,000 years in the future. He discovers a society so incredibly dumbed-down that he's easily the most intelligent person alive.

I J 4... let's just hope they don't rely too heavily on CG unless they can truly pull it off.

It's about time for another movie with the spirit of the first one... where you feel like you're getting home from an adventurous vacation as you leave the theater. If you haven't seen Raiders in a while you'll be surprised at how good it still is... I laugh at most flicks that old and this one still holds up (sans the sped up dragging under the truck scene... and the wax natzi meltdowns).

I'm hearin' all of this. By Fincher's Zodiac Project, is that the new Elliot Ness one he's making out of the graphic novel? Or is that another of his?

As for me, I'm patiently awaiting "The Untitled Spielberg/Abraham Lincoln Project"! Liam Neeson is playing Abe.

Oh, and there's also, "Manhunt" starring Harrison Ford as the guy who hunts down John Wilkes Booth after Ol' Abe's assassination!

It's gonna be a good few years for abe...which means I'll have to wait at least a good ten to make my cerebral lincoln masterpiece ;)
