If you search back through the forum to last year a member posted a diagram you could download/print to make a cardboard shade from.

Yeah I just made a flag out of black foam core I really dont feel a need to have the sides.

Fun project, although I'm not sure I'd actually use this on a shoot for a client. It might look a little too DIY for me to charge them some serious $$ ;-)

this is true, saw one in here too that looked identical...cardboard seems to...disposable. theres gotta be some kind of plastic, im thinkin the plasti, you see road signs made of...

I dont see the need for a full on matte box, I use the flag I made with some velcro works perfect.

well yea mine is just cardboard painted black, its seriously like, a 10 - 20 minute project. i just traced the shape of the original matte box onto carboard and winged it from there. i recomend it, it may not have clout, but it works great, and it costs nothing.
