I'm making this movieposter, only I feel something is missing. Does anyone have a suggestion?

This was taken in front of a white screen made by rolls of paper, only lit by a 500w work lamp with a diffusion filter and an overhead machine diffused by a single A4 paper. Altso, it was a crappy camera with only 3.4 megapixels.

The original picture looks a little better because of this being compressed for web.

For a US movie poster you are going to want it something like 28" wide by 40" tall, so you're going to need to crop it that way. Think about where your Title, tagline and credits are going, you'll not want to cover anyone's face. And it would have been nice to have the other girl's face at least partially visible, perhaps in profile.

I of course know nothing about your film (or even title) so take the following with a grain of salt.
I think the background appears unmotivated and frankly it just looks like a bad key because the lighting on the subject doesn't even attempt to recreate the background lighting. I would try a less natural background or a tighter crop of the background image (perhaps just the clouds). Remember, the sun is always the brightest source of light, in this image the actors would need to be in near silhouette to make it appear real. I also agree that just the tiniest bit of the other girls face needs to be seen, this will make her even more mysterious.

I was thinking more about the editing. What can I do to make it better?

editing? What are you talking about? You are going to have to be much more specific- You have providied a simple composite still- not a full out poster with text, editing doesn't even factor in yet. First you have to get the image right.

About the girl, in the end of the short it turns out she is a he :). That's why I don't want to show anything more of her/him.

I don't really have time to take any more photos, but I have three single photos of each of the characters.
