Has a link to the trailer for Silent Hill. This looks like the first video game movie to stay true to the video game that inspired it. In which case this is a very good thing as i felt Silent Hill was the creepiest game ever made. Hopefully the movie is as faithful as the trailer seems to be.

!!!!!!!!! Yes!
It does look true to the game which itself was a masterpiece game wise and movie aspect wise.
This looks to be based on the first game right? I loved the second game. Is the director of the game directing the movie? cuz he knows his stuff.

The guy who directed "Brotherhood of the wolf" did this, right?
Well, should be visually interesting.

Yes Christophe Gans is his name.

Also i don't think it uses the exact same story from the first one but rather adapted the story while including some elements from others.

The second game was better, IMO anyway. I hope they take some elements from there.

I loved playing Silent Hill 2 - first time I played it, it was Halloween. My friend just got it, and didn't play it too much (he never got to the first story point with the zombie-thing). But thirty minutes later, my friend and 3 others were glued to the TV watching me play, and we never went out that Halloween. We just played it all night.
I never played the first one, but the sound design and lighting in that were awesome. Did they have the radio static noise whenever you got close to enemies in the first one too? Gotta say, when you entered a new room and the static was full volume, that was pretty freaky - especially since there was usually a half second delay in showing the visuals. Don't know if that was intentional or not, but effective nonetheless.

Can't wait to see it on the big screen.

Actually I think the confusion was with Spidey saying the movie has nothing to do with the game when in the trailer we see several elements directly from the video games. If he meant story then I apologize cause I didn't mean to imply that it was an exact replication of the games.

The story's parallel to the quad-release, but it isn't the same game plot. However, the town is still the same town. Just as well, you can look forward to the infamous horror references. Midwich being one of them. Along with that, the feminine star reflects the star of Silent Hill 3, which I loved just as much as one, two, and four. This adaptation is well written.

I've been waiting for this movie for two years since the press release of Gans was knighted... and at four months until game time, I find myself becoming rabid.

This will probably be the landmark for game-to-movie translation. I'm willing to bet on it, whether it loses or not.

I love Silent Hill to death (no pun intended), and to see how closely they've matched the key elements (the town siren noise blaring over, the grimey walls, the fog-ridden atmosphere) literally drives goosebumps down my spine.

Geez... anticipation sucks.

oh my bad. i said i did one of the poster and made it to the finals from what the information i found out frm sony was that it nothing really like it. it has some elements but then its is nothing like it.kinda like how the mario bros movie had mario bros in it but then well the story fell apart. or how like resident evil movies have those setting but none of those people are important to the story beside jill from the games and the rest is a pile of crap made up stuff with nothing form the series.

Are you implying that this is what Silent Hill will be?

Cause if its a matter of what someone told you and what can be seen in the trailer I am inclined to disagree with you. At least until I actually view the film. The trailer shows off alot of the key elements that created the Atmosphere of the video game. And IMO atmosphere is the most important element of the Silent Hill universe.

However, trailers don't always tell the truth of a movie....i.e. Saw....ugh

exactly... i mean the main character isn't even it it....

For this particular series i would argue that that is an unimportant element.

With every Silent Hill we have new characters to meet. It's not like with Mario where the series is defined by the characters you play.

Actually Spidey I think you're wrong. The main character is featured in this movie it is the town of Silent Hill.
