What are the standard width of tracks for doorway dollies?
I've found two common sizes, 28.25", and 24.4".
Which is most common at rental houses? In other words, if I rent track for use with a home-built dolly, what size should the wheel-distance be on the dolly?

24.4" ≈ 62cm
- Mikko ...built his dolly to run on standard track too..

is that the width between the wheels or the width of the whole dolly? I'd imagine just the wheels?

It's from the center of one rail to the center of the other.
So with round pipe for rails, it's from the top of one rail to the top of the next.. (just like a wavelength)
The width of the whole dolly has nothing to do with the guage of the track.

i just made sure mine would fit through doorways... so i made the actual board 27" wide.

exactly what I did, natxbrotha. Although I think mine's about 28" wide. Just got some angle iron and wheels for the runners, and I still need to get my pvc and finish the wood stop blocks for the end of the pipes that I'm making.

Damn I wish I'd thought to ask that question before I built my dolly oh so long ago!
:)
Good luck with it!
