View Full Version : Recommendation for first camcorder for newbie

Hello folks. I want to introduce myself first. My name is Charli. I am an inspiring
(another fancy word for unproduced) screenwriter. I do want to get back into the "film" arena. What do I know about today's camcorders? Very little.

I've read a few reviews, but not quite sure which way to go. I am leaning toward
the Panasonic AG-DVX100B. I just want to shoot a few shorts. Get a feel for
camera work again.

Back in the day (and this is way back in the day, 20 years ago) I owned a
SonyV5000 camcorder (remember those?) and a JVC10000 editing dual vcr
(yes, this ages me, back before editing software and personal computers).

Well, between then and now I had a kid (yeah, I'm a girl) and had to sell the Sony & JVC.

Well, my kid moved out to college and it's time to get some toys. I am going to take
some time to go through some of these old files, but if anyone has any
input into which is a smart camcorder to get to shoot some good quality
shorts, I'd appreciate it.

My budget is $2500-$3000. I'll go over $3000 if I can keep it under $3500.
What would you recommend?
