Today was the transfer of authority ceremony today. I was attached to the Public Affairs guys. I was orignally going to use the Canon GL2 I was issued, but I got a last minute (and I mean literally, last minute) oppurtunity to use a Sony PD150. (I think that's what it was) that had better focus ring control.
I had no time to look at the setting, and was barely able to do any white balancing or anything. The lighting was horrible...standard flourescent crap.
Here are some exported frames. Little or no CC done on these. Filmed at 30fps, 1/30th shutter, 2.8 f-stop. Exported with Premier Pro 1.5. I know that they aren't THAT good.. so feel free to rip'em if you want. :)

Hey you did the best with what you could. I mean the quality could look better with some cc'ing bring out the colors more. If you had better lighting it would help but other than that its good.

thanks for the reviews...and the appreciation. Like I said.. I had no time to set this camera up. I probably should have just stuck with the canon since I had it setup for flourescent light stuff...
I just wanted to get my hands on the sony... dunno why...just looked better I guess. :)

So in the end... do you give it a thumbs up or down?
(if you would have time to get more familiar with it)

overall I give it a thumbs up...and the PAO guys did to... I got a couple of "money shots" that noo ne else did.. (one of the main ones being the un casing of the colors that you see above)
If you are talking about the Sony camera in general... I liked it.. it's not a DVX.. but I liked it..better focus control..thats what I liked...
(of course right now I have officially handled a canon and a sony loner than I have a DVX) :)

I really like the 3rd grab!

any praise I get I owe to this website...I have poured a lot reading into this. and this was definitely a change from doing weddings, where 90% of the time you are static, or at least in the same area. This...you were all over the place, so I had to make adjustments on the fly. (With a camera I had barely picked up 5 minutes prior to the event)
Everyone seems to like the 3rd grab. That makes me really happy because I really wanted that one to be a good DOF shot.
If you look at the full video.. you will see where I still had some unecessary movement and zooms. But I am getting better.
I really need to get a monopod or build a steady cam.
