I uses avid to edit 25p advance thin material. But i am travelling with my lagtop in which i want to record direclty. For that purpose can i only use windows movei player because my avid dongle is to stay at the office. Can one record directly to my lagtop though WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER with the 25 advance quality without loosing and then import in my AVDI? I mean: dows WMP have to possiblity to record in DVXUSER best format?

Try a freeware called WinDV. No-frills capture. It captures in DV format from firewire. You can then import into your NLE later, removing pulldown.

WinDV BLOWS. IMHO.
Tom, you can capture through Windows Movie Maker; it's DV all the same. There is no 25p "Advanced;" pulldown is not an issue with PAL.
The only problem I can see is that Avid needs Quicktimes -- unless that's changed it can use DV AVIs. You probably want to check in the Avid forum for questions about that.
