Is there a possiblity of tapping the signal going to the (e.g. hvx) lcd screen? -Ought to be possible to feed that to another lcd, maybe of bigger size, thus maintaining focus assist, option of flipping that lcd physically, and maybe even getting a bigger, better lcd.
Not being a techie, I have no idea if this is possible, but it also adresses the desire to have e.g. 7" lcds on the camera, keeping focus assist.
hrm, speculation... :undecided

Call me crazy, but what do you mean by tapping the signal going to the LCD? Couldn't you just use the video outs to send a signal to a different LCD? Maybe I don't understand your question or I'm overlooking something about the nature of the signal sent to the LCD. Is there a reason why you couldn't use a different LCD now using the video signal from the camera?

You are crazzzy!!!!
Also for those using a 35mm lens adapter it would be nice if it was possible to flip the image. Seems like a rather simple thing for someone that knows about micro electronics. No?

The signal sent from the hvx video out does not include the focus assist magnification of the center part of the image, which is what you'll use on the onboard lcd for focusing, a crucial factor in hd. so if you use an xternal lcd for camera mount monitoring (like when using a stabilizer or when you need to physically flip the image when using a 35mm adapter such as the g35), you'll be working without the focus assist. Also, you probably won't mount a true hd monitor on the camera for weight and ergonomic reasons. So you'll have low resolution and no focus assist. That's why I'd like to tap the signal going to the onboard lcd. and y'all can call me crazy anytime, because I am:evil:

Ok, that makes much more sense. Thanks. I figured I was just missing something, and evidently I was. Thank you for being patient and just explaining it. :D
