A question for photoshop experts. I run intel p4 on pc with 1 igig of ram.
They say cs2 can use up to 2gigs of ram. My question is would I be better off getting an extra 2 gigs or just 1 gig? If I get a total of 3 gigs I guess I can allocate the photoshop to 100% memory allocation and still be left with a spare gig for the operating system.
I guess vegas 5 that I have can do longer RAM renders as a side benefit too.
The other option is just to get a total of 2 gigs and set the memory allocation to photoshop at 90% or so to allow it to have 1.5 gigs of ram.
So how much of a difference would I notice between 1.5 vs 2 gigs? I assume it will depend on how many layers , filters etc I will use I guess. I mainly correct photos only and not much graphic arts stuff. Will you guys reckon I would notice a difference in ordinary day to day usage outside of photoshop too?
I guess its a cost benefit thing really. I'm trying not to spend to much to upgrade my system as it can be tempting just to build a new one from scratch rather than patching an old one.

Photoshop CS2 can use up to 3.5 GB's of RAM, Photoshop CS was limited at 2 gigs. So, even if you get 3 gigs you haven't reached PS's max. The more RAM the merrier, but it depends on how much performance you want out of your machine. I like to run mult. apps at the same time, and I usually have Photoshop open all the time since I constantly use it, so I would go for 3.
