Why not use the same image flip effect as the 35mm adapter on your Lcd? If you put a magnifying glass or something like it the right distance from your lcd, and then ground glass or an eye peice the same distance on the opposite side, then the image will flip all the way over, plus using ground glass, you could make a somewhat of a screen with proper shade from light. observe:

a very very VERY rough idea of what it would look like:

Love the idea, but with HD being hard enough to focus as it is, I wonder how the focusing plane will effect the sharpness of the image.... very clever though. Everyone will have to put there heads together on this one. If there is a will, there is a way.

I was thinking about something similar as well. I was thinking about modifying one of those LCD hoods for the DVX. Like this one http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&Q=&is=REG&O=productlist&sku=361578

I know there is a cheaper one out there as well. It might be a good start.

i was just thinking of making this out of cheap plastic or good posterboard, in the case of HD, would the quality loss matter alot? because you really only use the lcd to get an idea of what you are shooting, you would only need to make it clear enough to tell if what you are shooting is in focus.

also, for the eye peice, i didnt specify but a small circle of ground glass would proboly work good just inside the eye peice
