microcrystalline, Ill, what size would you want as in thickness, as thick as a reuglar filter lens?

Wait... have you tested it out to be sure it has the proper diffuse and supressed grain?

I have not, I am not able to right now that's why i'm sending out tests for everyone to try. I'm not selling this, I'm giving out samples.

i'd love to give it a go but am living in Australia so am not sure how it would hold up during delivery...

I'd love to test it out -- 49mm / 2 inches would be my ideal size. I'll PM you my info.
Thanks!

I'm not sure about how well the lens will hold up, but putting it in a bubble package wrapped tightly should be cool. It has to reach 174 degrees i think before it will even melt. I'll see how much it will cost to ship out. Now, I'm not here to disappoint anyone, to satisfy, I'm just trying to get a good lens. So if this isn't what you hoped for it to please be don't be disappointed. I'm probably going to have him cut the wax in 55mm diameter and my question how thick would you guys suggest it? Bklyndv suggested 2inches? Is my version of thickness different than his?
I was thinking no thicker than a uv filter.
I'll let those who are interested up to date as to when I have them and able to ship out. I have to work around his schedule for him to cut it.

thickness - i think you should only be looking at 1-2mm - i thick bklyndv's suggestion of 2 inche was refering to the 44mm -hmm actually that doesn't add up... perhaps s/he is going to cut it up futher?
Actually is t he idea here to have wax you can just pop into a filter ring? or to get th wax and melt it down ourselves?

The wax should be no thicker than a piece of Scotch tape.
49mm is approximately 2 inches. I was referring to diameter with that figure.

Okay, sounds good. Also, has anyone ever tried to see if a deli will slice the piece of wax for them? Laugh, this may sound silly but you can it really really thin with those slicers, I know this because I've sliced before. I'll try that as well.

You wouldn't be able to use it -- really, there is such an extremely low tolerance for optical discrepancies in the wax's surface, there's no way the average person could slice the wax and use it as a screen. It has to be melted and applied evenly to a clear plane.

are you applying the wax or is the optician?
