I have just begun work on a 45 min. animated movie . It is done at 720p24 and is a combination of oil painting, digital painting, photography, film, and video. this is a very small project with a team of 5 people and no budget( all coming out of our own pockets for now). almost all the sky and water( of which there will be a lot) in the film will either be 16mm or video. some of the backgrounds will be shot on 70mm and a couple as big as 8x10 or 11x14. i will be working uncompressed as much as possible to get the most detail in the paintings as i can. i have been considering picking up a hvx200 to shoot moving textures, sky, and water shots. i plan on doing the most sky shots timelapse and the water slow mo. i was wondering what all of you think about the compression in the dvcprohd codec being in the same shot with uncompressed paintings and photos. all these elements will be blended together in after effects then edited in fcp. we also plan on doing a film out. as far as i can tell there isn't a better option for me as far as cameras go. the variable frame rates is especially appealing to me. i would probably pick up the hvx with 1 4gb card and the p2 harddrive or wait for the firestore because i do plan on taking it on short trips to the coast and i don't have a laptop. i would appreciate any opinions on this as it is not easy for me to spend $8000+. here is a link to some of my work just so you understand i am not doing some dinky flash animation. thanks.

I'd shoot with a good digital SLR for the time lapse... slomo water always works best with a sync'd strobe, so 35mm or one of the two syncable Super 16 cameras would be
best for that.
