Someone just showed me the following place to post videos - its free up to 100 mbs per video and you can post an unlimited number - this will be good for everyone to post samples.

Jarred, Barry - if you read this take a look and see if its worth a sticky or at least a cross post in the other areas - its free and can help lots of people share

http://www.youtube.com

EDIT - 10:08

Ill have to look into it to see if the quality is up to snuff - they might reencode - any one know?

They definitely re-encode (using extreme amounts of compression), and as far as I've ever seen, the video size is limited to 320x240. It's actually Flash video if I'm not mistaken. It's OK for sharing short examples of composition or style, but as for judging detail or camera limitations, it's essentially useless. There is some funny content there, though... (did anyone else catch the "Narnia rap" on SNL a week ago?)

youtube definitely reencodes to Flash. The turnaround from upload to live on the web is faster than google video.

Bandwidth is not free. The only free system might be that someone pay for a 100mbits link but only use 60, so there is 40 left.

Now I pay per transfer only, so I spend 28cent per gig transfered. No speed limit (currently at 100mbits full, but I would just need to swap the network card.)

I'll try to offer a hosting solution for video, and just make people pay for the actual cost of bandwidth. So 28cent per gig. I run http://hvx200.moctel.com/ on donation rightnow, but it not covering the cost.
