I was surprised that I actually enjoyed the first one, so I'm looking forward to this one too. Let's hope it doesn't end up as a Sloppy Sequel.

i will be so dissappointed if it does turn out to be a Sloppy Sequel. I really enjoyed the first one and if this one turns out to be bad it will ruin the first movie for me too most likely.

I can't even sit through the trailers. Hot as Kate Beckinsale is...i have no interest in this franchise. Then again I don't really like vampires or werewolves. Except for Werewolf MJ in the opening of Thriller. John Landis rocks my world.

I love vampires and werewolves and I thought this movie was great if you like the topic. Interview with the vampire / Anne Rice books also a fave

Not a fan of werewolves but like vampire movies and Kate... Damn she was so freakin hot. Van Helsing.... what really turns that one off for me was the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde character. One of the worst cg characters supposed to come off as real IMO. But back to Kate, so hot I can barely keep my hands on her. Waiting in anticipation for this one.

Dakota-
Crazy as he may be today. The old Michael is still a badass in my book. I look at it like the difference between Parkinson's Muhammad Ali and Sting like a Bee Ali.

Van Helsing is the worst film EVER made...
Underworld was pretty bad too.. though not that bad. Too much emphasis on effects / actions and too little on the story or atmosphere.
I will take John Carpenter's VAMPIRE$ any day rather than those... Or re-read the novel of the same name by John Steakly - which is friggin' awesome...
Oh and NEAR DARK is just another vampire classic !!

I saw this movie last night. I thought it was really good. IMO I think it's just as good as the original. Lot's of action and a good story to me.

Ok, I also saw this today. The ending KILLED the movie..... SPOILER WARNING........................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ....................Ok, for those of you who saw the movie, you know they made this big deal about Marcus being the first vamp, and if he died, the rest of them died. Did everyone miss the fact that Celine did kill Marcus, and the vamps didn't die? How sloppy! GRRR....

SPOILER........................................... .................................................. .................................................. ..................
they lost the vampire in them. didn't you see selene's eyes after marcus died? then the sunlight didn't hurt her? it wasnt because she is the "future" of vampires. its cause she ISN'T a vampire anymore.... just my 2 cents

SPOILER........................................... .................................................. .............................................
Yes, but i thought that's what she got from the head Wolf (When she was sucking his blood) "What will I become?", "The Future" Too much foreshadowing for that not to mean something.... And what about her monologue at the end? How she knew darkness was ahead? Sounded like there were plenty of Vamps/Werewolves to deal with. I mean, you may be right, but they did a poor job of making it clear.

I saw it Friday night. I have to say I liked it a lot.
What no mention of the hot sex scene? I'm disappointed in you guys...
Gotta give it up to Len Wiseman for showing off his hot wife to the world.
SPOILER........................................... .................................................. .........................
From how I understand it, Alexander the father of Marcus (vampire) and William (lycan) was the first immortal, but he wasn't a vampire or werewolf himself. Those strains came from his sons. So I'm thinking Selene is an immortal, but not a vampire any longer. But she should be stronger than all of them now.
BTW isn't Raze, the big Lycan, still around? Maybe they were saving him for the next film.

SPOILERS.......................................... ......Mojo - You may be right, but again, they did a poor job of explaining all that. Not my only problem with the series anyhow. I never and still don't believe in Michael and Selene's relationship. Very much like Anakin and Padme. I didn't feel any loss when we all thought Michael died. Because they didn't really give me a reason to care about the relationship.

they def. left it open for a 3rd movie, the ending was a bit confusing, but overall I really like it.

I have to say, I was thoroughly dissappointed with it. It seemed like that had some good ideas for actually creating an intriguing story for this sequel, but none of their ideas seemed to be completed. There was a lot of poor CG, a lot of discontinuity, and it seemed like they were really forcing a lot of the action sequences, which by the way didn't really have any original choreography but rather all seemed to borrow different little action scenes from recent innovative action films such as The Matrix, Equilibrium, Sin City, etc. The action scenes felt so incredibly forced, that I actually caught myself yawning during the middle of a fight scene near the end... this is going to sound funny, but I was literally bored with all the action.
Anyway, that's my take on the movie. It definitely had some neat stuff in there, but as a whole it seemed to be a let down.
Oh, and what was the deal with using that same sunrise shot twice at the end of the movie?! Nobody uses the same shot twice without at least modifying it! That's just lazy filmmaking.

SPOILERS...........I thought the first half of the film was awsome, the opening battle, the capture of the head wolf, the head vampire chasing the truck, the love scene (of course), and even the guard dogs (wolfs).
However, from there on it went slightly down hill. The "legendary" Corvenous was a let down and so was his death. Michael's revival was kinda low key and not as momentous as it should of been. And I wasn't a big fan (no punt intended) of the spinning helicopter blade scene.
Still it is way better than Underworld and Vanhelsing put together, and IMO it's in the top bunch of vampire (or warewolf) movies.

I saw it and thought it was silly, inconsistent, and moderately fun. All and all not a bad film, but certainly not great or a benchmark in any sense.
SPOILERS FOLLOW
They DID make it clear that the whole "kill Marcus kill all vampires" thing was a load of BS. It was something Marcus invented so that Victor would consider him indispensible, but it was never true.
The main problem I had was that the sense of danger was completely missing. Why did she use guns all the time? What was the point... it was fairly obvious that no gun was going to do the job, yet BANG BANG BANG for the majority of the film.
How can a 200 lb vampire pull-down a military chopper? Why did Corvenus' men help out? It was obvious they were all going to die. It would have made much more sense for them to "okay, we'll drop you off, but if you don't come back in 30 minutes, we're nuking the site".
Sex scene: is it just me or do the leads have no chemistry whatsoever? When people told me the first film was "romantic" and I watched it, I was like "WTF? Where's the romance?" In the second film "romance" = "you're healed, I'm healed... Hey look! A convenient zipper! Let's get it on!"

LOL... Awesome Spiff.... Better than I could have said. Maybe I missed where the explained Marcus made up the whole, "if I die, we all die." deal.... But that may have been when I fell asleep during the 90th action scene that resembled every other action scene in the movie.

It started out of the gate great and then lost me. I liked it, but not near as much as the first.
Some bummers:
Marcus - Brutal casting! This guy had zero charisma. The cast in the first one had serious spark in them. This was a major deal breaker. A better casting here would have changed the flick.
As noted, no chemistry between Salina and Michael. He is kinda useless IMO
This sequel totally lost the slick, stylish, sexy tone of the first one. Even the pacing and action was off.
I can forgive the plot holes... Kate Beckinsale is Yummy, Yummy, Yummy!
I was totally digging it and then after 30 min or so it went south. :(
