I recently completed my second student shortfilm called "Red Ribbon". I'm always looking for suggestions and feedback to improve my craft, so if any of you guys don't mind watching a 22 minute short please follow the link... thanks in advance :)

It might be an xl2; just because the post is under the xl2 clips tread

Did you out put your video into a 2:35.1 ratio? If so, how did guide your shots, or did you just morph the overall picture?

i used an xl-2, and its at a 2.40:1 ratio. as for guiding the shots, i just used my eye and hoped for the best :)

But in my opinion there was:
A: An overkill in music usage
B: To many "Looks" ie: B/W to Contrasty/Saturated to Tinted Scenes to Soft focus to much, for me at least...felt like 5 different movies.
C: Substandard acting: could have been better with more rehearsal/character development?
D: Opening title sequence better suited for a feature length film? (too long)
E: Again overkill with the low angled shooting style.
F: Aspect ratio better suited for film of epic proportions. It's always tough for me to justify that crop unless the film has sprawling panoramics and huge battle scenes.
On the technical side I thought:
A: The editing was smooth
B: Sound and foley were better than most films on this forum

Don't mean to sound harsh, but you have talent and I think if you take this for what it's worth, it will only raise your standards and make you better.
Aloha always!

Hmmm..I have to agree with the above post. Great photography, smooth editing. But the acting made me cringe quite a few times and the music was overkill. Also, the story line is a bit complicated. 6/10

Yes the music was a tad bit too much. But I have to say it was great music though. Is there anyway you can copy and past the score on here because it's too tiny to read in the ending credits?
