A friend of mine directed me to this site when I was complaining about how there weren't any films to compose for anywhere. Said this one has plenty of them so... here I am. The name's Zack and I compose orchestral film scores. I won't blabber on about stuff you don't care about and just jump straight to the music...

That's just about all my latest stuff. The absolute latest music I'd done is Cirque Du Mort, Trailer, and Main Theme is a song I am currently working on. Everything else was done about 3-4 months ago.

So if you need music then just holler at me on AIM(CBlockDis) or thru Email(dihmmm@hotmail.com).

Peace,
Zack

Highly recommend composer. Zack is very good, and can work really well under pressure. :)

I've just listened to a couple of tracks, and oh my gosh I can't believe how many great composers are dropping out of the sky offering their talent for these films!

Yowza! Hurn's busy, and RMI Studios I think is as well, but some body has got to snatch up Zack's services.

I almost think I may enjoy listening to some of the films more than I'll enjoy watching them!

Zach, very impressive work. You definitly have captured many moods and emotions with your pieces, plus the over all tonality of them, and the mix is very professionally done. I have to ask you a question, and at risk of sounding like a dufus, but your work has a very analogal sound to it. Are these live recordings? or is this some really damn fine midi work. Either way, I am very impressed.

Well done indeed! I enjoyed each of those tracks, as well as your web site!

Wow, that is some very impressive midi. I guess I havn't been keeping up on the midi scene as the last time I heard some midi composed music, it didn't sound anything like that.

Well, it's not exactly just plain ol' comes with your computer MIDI he's talking about. He meant did I sequence the music on my computer or did a live orchestra perform it in a sense. I used Cakewalk to sequence the music in MIDI format so the samples have more impact. The swells in the brass for instance are done using the Modulation wheel so that I can control exactly how they work. Too much to explain really, but there's quite a bit of stuff to take into account when sequencing orchestral music.

Chris Hurn just gave me a quick MIDIComposition/Calkwalk 101 lesson last night. The systems come with that cheap MIDI sound that we're all used to hearing on our system. Then, for a fee like everything else, you can purchase banks of samples of all kinds of real music (not loops, but real samples of instruments playing every sound) to replace the standard MIDI tones.

Still have to know how to put that altogether, though, which I sure as heck don't.

He didn't happen to mention the size of some of these samples did he? :D The Piano sample I used for Cirque du Mort is a littler under 1 gb in size. :p Reason being, when they make the sound banks they give it multiple velocity layers on every single note(so map out 88 keys, at least 3-5 velocity layers a piece, and that's how many samples are in that one instrument). I'm not sure how kontakt instruments are(that's what chris uses) but Gigasamples are bloody huge sometime. :p

Oh yeah, got a few responses but none of them are for the sci-fest deadline they are all projects being completed in the months to come. So, if you still need music, yell. ;)

Sampling has progressed by leaps and bounds in recent years. Just check out Symphonic Orchestra (http://www.eastwestsamples.com/details.php?cd_index=979) and some of the samples, and don't forget to look at the price tag! One might argue that live orchestras will be in danger one day. Probably not though - there's just something magical about a live orchestra.

Great work, by the way! Was there some mass diaspora of composers onto the net?

Composers are everywhere, and 9 times out of 10, we most likely know each other somehow.

Anyway, still waiting for more films to score for. Got one more since my last post but it wasn't for a full 6 minute score, just one song(and I'm not even quite sure how long it should be.

Also, I finished the 'Main Theme' finally so give it a listen if you would.

Peace,
Zack

is that *one more* referring to the one you're doing for me?

wait, you're not doing a full score for my sci-fest?

You didn't say you wanted a full score. You just said you wanted something ... I forget the correct terminology you used... but "erie" maybe? I'll gladly do the full score though.

-Edit-
Well... I'm a dunce. Misunderstood your PM, you weren't asking for one song, you were just describing the general mood of the music throughout. :p Sorry...

hehe, that's ok.
I just saw your post and thought, hm...there's a miscommunication here.
