Hi.

Is there any reason to have some other app for creating panorama pictures than having those tools available inside Photoshop CS?

I found this kind of app: http://www.realviz.com/products/st/index.php

Just wondering is there any reason for this kind of apps if you already have Photoshop? :undecided Is there something that can be done better with these other apps?

Thanks.

I use Stitcher and it's a great pano app. Photoshop is ok for simple panos, but it doesn't have very good functionality to deal with lens distortion and it requires a lot of manual work to do anything ambitious. Stitcher (an other pano apps) let you have a lot of control over the pano assembly and also let you go on automatic. You can also create QTVR files in different flavors. The bottom line is that you create a wide variety of panos without a lot of work and quickly.

Thanks, Barry, exactly what I wanted to know.

By the way, Barry, if you are still reading this topic...How do you take your panorama pictures? Do you have some special adapter in your tripod for panorama shots? I have taken some test panorama shots and I'm pretty satisfied with them, but I think there's some better way to do this...I'm just using basic tripod.

If you have a look at our website you will see the manfrotto unit used for creating 360 panos and or panoramic pics - you will find it on the Web page and other places - also on the photography page you will see a number of QTVRs. We have been shooting this stuff for years and can now do this without the aid of the manfrotto unit which is not cheap. There is lotsa software out there - we us Apple QTVR Studio... (and other plug ins) in conjunction with photoshop. We started a craze over here about 5 years ago in the housing market, when we started to use really wide panoramics to help sell property that had a great view - these were implemented into design layouts for press / magazine adverts/features. There are a few tricks to getting certain panoramic shots...
