Our major client has an urgent job, and we won't be able to finish our entry in time.

Since our screenplays are awesome and I really want to see them filmed, I'm offering both of our short screenplays to whoever is able to make a short film within the next couple of weeks.

Both screenplays are six-pages, have just a few actors in a few locations. One can be filmed in one day (at one location), and the other can be filmed in two days at a couple locations. One has no effects at all, and the other has some minor CGI and gore/prosthetics (but easy-to-do.)

If you would like to see the scripts, send a PM with your description of your capabilities, and ability to complete a short in the next couple weeks.

Whoever has the best chance of making a winning film gets 'em!

What type of sci-fi are we talking about?

Can you PM me a treatment for each?

Here's a description of them:

I won't get too detailed because I'm concerned about the "promotion" rule -- I was going to post the scripts but then thought that may be unfair (also why I'm using another account.)

PM me if these are of interest to you (and you are seriously able to make the films!)

#1:

Hard Sci-fi. Grim apocalyptic medical/science story. Requires a laboratory set (we were going to use a university laboratory, but a high-school lab would work too.) Has one brief "plate" shot (which we could easily do in a few hours in Maya with the "Live" plugin), and a bit of gore requiring a prosthetic (very easy -- I'll tell you how we were planning the effects shots if you need help.)

We were going to shoot this in the style of an X-Files episode.

We ended up choosing the next story because this one required that we went into the mountains to an observatory, and the roads would most likely be inaccessible this time of year.

#2:

Soft Sci-fi. Slightly comedic, but mostly psychedelically weird. Imagine if Cronenberg, Gondry, and Lynch got into a gene-splicing accident -- this script would be the result. Lots of character development and twists. A trippy thought-provoking ending which may cause panic attacks  .

Can be shot in one location (a house or apartment.) Three main actors, and several extras (two speaking). No effects, except for a simple editing trick.

I was thinking about "Eraserhead" while blocking.

Hope that helps!

Call me skeptical, but you've posted exactly twice, both in this thread, and you're comparing yourself to Cronenberg, Gondry and Lynch??????????????????

Just for emphasis....
??????????????????????????????????????????

How many people do you know who compare themselves the mediocre/unknown filmmakers? But yes, I forgot that how many posts you have on this site relates directly to your skill as a director.

Anyway, I don't particularly attach to either of those ideas, so I'll probably just stay out of this one.

man if anyone were to run with those it'd be like doing a 48 hour film almost.

Jiminy! First, folks, notice that the member has stated the started a new member account specifically for this. Also notice the name "Mr. Temporary". For all you know this could be Curugon, JDanstan, etc.

Secondly, if you're not interested in the ideas/story, no need to post. Jes' like ma mamma used to say "If'n you can't say nuttin' nice, don't say nuttin' a'tall".

I just put the screenplays online. PM me if you're in need of a script and want to take a look.

NBCShooter: Your mailbox is full -- I can't PM you!

Lucidz: Thanks for crapping in my thread. Very aromatic.

What the heck kind of post was that? Someone's post count dictates their writing/directing ability on this DVX site?

PFT.

While they may be on the low popularity list, Gondry is not mediocre... but I guess this is all opinion.

Don't want the scripts, but the comment kind of put me off.

Generally I'd agree with the post count not equalling credibility. The only time I tie credibility to post count is when someone has only 5 posts or less. Even at 44, its obvious you're an actual member of the community here. People with very very few posts who make outlandish claims are instantly suspicious of being a 'troll'.

Imagine for example, I first-posted on a site and said something like this:

"Hi guys, I'm available if anyone wants a filmmaker to shoot your ideas. If you want to know what kind of director I am, think the epic mentality of Peter Jackson, combined with Spielbergs eye for character, while maintaining a Kubrickian wierdness."

That would be a bit strange for a first post... Or maybe its just me.

I personally have disdain for anyone less than 1,000 posts. No credibility in my eyes, whatsoever.

Give me a break. Everyone has to start somewhere. If we were to distrust people with 5 posts or less as being a TROLL, then what about the very talented composers who've come on the board recently to offer their services so they can ad film scores to their proposal? Distrust them because they've JUST come on the board?

Besides, Lucidz, if you read that second post, Mr. Temp CLEARLY stated that they opened this particular member account just for reason of posting this thread. For all we know it could be a five year member.

Well if any of those composers had come to the board and said "I'm here to make music for you guys, think Bach meets Elfman meets Bernard Herrmann"

its not the advertising of wares, it was the comparisons that made me raise an eyebrow.

I didn't think I came off as that antagonistic, certainly ain't tryin to cause a fire 'round these parts.

It's you. But, I'm not hating. Too each his or her own. If you discard someone because you "assume" they have nothing, then the next person picks up the something that they were offering.

Have at it.
