View Full Version : Short Film Contest: $10,000 in prizes
I'd like to see one of our guys win this with the dvx. It's being judged by Harvey Weinstein:

..and if anyone wants to put me down as their person who reffered them to medialiquid..feel free. my username is "jamai" .. wink wink ;) .. i get an extra 100 bucks if you win somthing.
KAI are you doing somthing for this..? im hard pressed to promote readiness for acts of terrorism without using fear as the base of the message, but i think ive got a pretty good spot worked out so far.

I see "contests" like this from time to time and sometimes it seems more like exploitation. Here's a group that wants 8 PSA spots done--something that could *easily* run $50K-100K from an agency and they put out the bid as a "contest" with $10K in "prizes". Oops, they're not prizes, they're contracts ;-). So four people will end up producing spots for a measly $500 bucks each. The commisioning company and I'm sure MediaLiquid make out nicely. I mean you can't find a cut-rate wedding videographer hack for $1000 around here.
Maybe, I'm off base, but I believe you should pay pro rates for real work. Look at the heavy hitters sponsoring this:

It seems pretty cheap to me. Now I'll just step down from my soapbox :-).
Hey IAL-
I'd like to do it, but unfortunately I'm way too swamped lately... plus tack on the DVX film, and i'm stretched... Looking forward to seeing your spot though!
